Tyler has been getting strong and being such a good boy lately. Since most of the babies in the NICU are preemies, he is probably the biggest baby in there which has really been helping with his strength. We had another good night which is such a relief to hear. They were going to start him on regular feedings on Monday and since he has been pretty stable lately, they decided to try the feedings on Saturday. So far things are going well and Tyler is handling the feedings as good as expected. We hope he keeps up the good work! They are beginning to "wean" him off of the IV nutrients and eventually they want to remove the IV all together to see how he does on his own and that his blood sugar levels keep within normal range. One of the nurses said she even gave him a little more bottle than normal one night because he was fussin for more... I have a feeling we are going to have a big boy on our hands, but we are so proud he is getting more energy and doing what he is suppose to be doing :) We try to visit him at the hospital around feeding times, which is also when they change his diaper. We never thought we would be so excited to change a diaper, but it gives us both the physical contact with the little guy that we are both yearning for. The other night we were at the hospital while changing his diaper he decided to pea over the entire bed area. He sure put us to work along with the nurse because it's not easy changing him with all the wires attached to him. All the while we were cleaning up after him, "the little stinker" had a big smile on his face.. I'm sure it won't be the first time nor the last time! We are still anxiously awaiting his arrival home. Monday is a big day for him as they will do some repeat testing (MRI, labwork, etc.) and based on how he continues to progress I hope to have him home in a week, but it could still be longer. I am at least hoping to be able to hold him this week once the brain wave activity is detached from his head. Everybody's thoughts and prayers are working... keep them coming :)
Good luck tomorrow, Tyler! Your Aunt Lori will be thinking about you:)
